“The full force of the storm of God’s
fierce anger at sin was coming down.
On his own son.
Instead of his people.
It was the only way God could destroy sin, and not
destroy his children whose hearts were full of sin.”
—The Jesus Storybook Bible, by Sally Lloyd-Jones
On Good Friday, we observe the day that Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Let me be a little more specific. For my sins. For your sins. If you were the only person in the world, Jesus would have died just for you.
To remind us of Jesus’ sacrifice, my kids and I make nail prints on our hands with our name written over the red mark.
Throughout the weekend, the permanent marker fades, but we can still see the marks that remind, “Jesus died for ME.”
Because of me.
For my sins.
Because he loved me.
