our story
VESSELS was established in 2013 as a club where girls would be equipped and discipled by a multi-generational team of women in a local church. The response from girls was immediate and the club grew exponentially each year and girls invited more friends to attend.
Each week, girls learn about a woman of the Bible to identify what made her unique, how she filled her life (her vessel) and examine her life to see if she allowed God to use her (or not). They also learn practical-apply-it-today wisdom from the women's stories. The fast-paced format and highly interactive teaching keeps girls engaged and learning through interactive presentations, notecards, crafts, singing, dancing and more.
But what we discovered along the way was that VESSELS isn’t just for tweens. We’ve seen it re-engage all generations of women in churches (from 18-80) who lead and serve as club volunteers. Beyond discipling the girls, VESSELS uniquely engages and encourages women of all ages to grow in their faith with this message: we each have a unique purpose and place in God’s story. As they study women of the Bible, they say things like, “My 10-year-old self is healing from what I am learning.”
But we hold this treasure in earthen vessels, that the surpassing power will be of God and not from us. 2 Cor 4:7
discipling & equipping tween girls
What are you doing to equip your tween girl for the tumultuous teen years that are ahead? Young girls are bombarded by cultural influences that seek to rob them of their innocence, personal identity and true purpose. This age window is an essential time to empower and equip girls to develop a relationship with Christ and explore what it means to be a godly woman in an ungodly world.
VESSELS gives tweens the tools and biblical truth they need to build a strong, personal foundation of faith. Based on 2 Corinthians 4:7, we want to show girls how to fill their lives (their vessels) with the things of God--the TRUE source of unconditional love, acceptance, value and identity. When girls understand and have confidence in who God says they are, their lives are forever transformed.
Girls love beautiful details, which is why VESSELS is all about embracing what makes girls different: glitter, jewelry, dancing, party decor and shopping! We embrace our God-given, girly-ness and take the time to create lovely details that make girls feel special and valued.
Girls earn their VESSELS necklace by memorizing scripture. Each year they continue to build their necklace, adding more elements and charms. It's a keepsake they will cherish forever.
